ADA, Okla. -- Ring in the new year like a resident of Kornfield Kounty during the annual Jae L. and Crossover “Hee Haw Variety Show,” a local year-end tradition filled with musical performances and comedic skits. Entertainment begins at 9 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 31, at the historic McSwain Theatre, 130 W. Main Street.

Like the original television variety show which spanned 25 seasons from 1969-1992, country music and rural living will be on full display, right down to the pigtails and overalls.

Tishia Agee -- as heard on 89.5 FM, KCNP radio -- will serve as master of ceremonies. Tayler House, Lela Dalby, Michael Dalby, Anne Young, Cathy Lake and Pat Payne will all add their personal flair to country favorites during the show.

Musician, actor and comedian Lucas Ross will be a special guest. Locals may recognize Ross from his work hosting “Discover Oklahoma,” or from his guest appearances on Oklahoma’s NBC affiliate KFOR. Ross will perform character skits and banjo tunes.

Other Kornfield Kounty characters to make an appearance will include “Grandpa,” played by Will Clark, and “Charlie Farquharson,” played by Shann Scroggins, who will sprinkle the show with humorous local news updates as a country anchorman.

Bud Akers and Russell Hulmes have prepared a barbershop skit in the style of “Hee Haw” cast members Archie Campbell and Roy Clark.

Jae L. said this New Year’s Eve event is good fun for everyone, from youngsters to elders.

"There are good memories linked to this show,” Jae L. said. “It’s a family fun night for anyone who would like to come ring in the new year.”
